Ankita Mishra is a Brooklyn-based queer multidisciplinary artist working within music, performance and theatre. With a background in Kathak dance and North Indian classical music, Ankita aims to combine influences from her Indian and American identities with through interactive performance. Themes she is currently exploring in her work are depression, cultural identity and the impacts of colonialism and patriarchy on the female body. She is especially interested in exploring the intersections between memory, ritual and the five senses. Ankita has most notably co-created The Thing to Miss Most with Filipina artist Goldie Poblador, performed in Brooklyn and The New York Poetry Festival on Governor’s Island in 2018. She is currently recording her debut EP as Spring Vlvt, set to release in 2019.
