Newlyweds Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja Celebrate: Day 3, Reception

4 min read

Ahbi toh party shuru hui hai!

At least that’s what newlyweds Sonam Kapoor-Ahuja (that’s what she goes by now!) and Anand Ahuja are saying after their nuptials as they invited friends and family to celebrate with them at a lavish reception after their wedding, held at The Leela in Mumbai. The event featured a guest list that read like a who’s who of Bollywood… Even more reason for us to be confused about why we weren’t invited.

It appears to have been an unforgettable affair filled with fashion, entertainment, and of course, love.  Take a peek at our favorite moments from the grand finale of #SonaamKiShaadi.

We can always count on Kapoor-Ahuja to take fashion risks and she delivered, once again. Sonam looks chic as hell in this Anamika Khanna lengha, and Anand also went avant-garde in ditching traditional joote for Nikes.

The pair poses for the paparazzi, with Anand realizing he has a goddess who deserves all the attention alongside him.

Happy dad, Anil Kapoor, looks dapper in his suit.

Power couple attends power couple’s wedding! It’s SRK and Gauri Khan!

Lucky Saif Ali Khan has two gorgeous women by his side, Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Power couple attends power couple’s wedding! Oops, did I say that already? It’s still true: Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan are glimmering in white.

Power couple attends power couple’s wedding! Okay, last one, I promise I’ll stop. Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna definitely went for a more subdued look.

Vidya Balan looks gorgeous, totally owning it in a sari like she always does.

Sonam’s little bro, Harshvardhan, looks just as fresh as his dad.

Sonam’s BFF and “Veere Di Wedding” costar, Swara Bhasker, looks glamorous in this modern-style lengha.

Kangana Ranaut arrives with the director-producer duo of Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra responsible for hits like “3 Idiots” and “Munna Bhai MBBS.”

Rani Mukerji looks flawless in this gold lengha with a feminine choli perfectly accented with a maroon trim and lip!

At this point, I’m no longer sure if we’re covering a wedding reception or a red carpet event. Shahid Kapoor and Meera Rajput-Kapoor opted for edgy asymmetrical pieces.

Sonam’s younger cousin sisters, Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor, have been in the spotlight for all the events, but have been slaying with so much poise and style.

Legend Rekha in a unique gold sari that showcases her eccentric style.

Bollywood royalty Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor arrive to bless the couple.

Karan Johar knows bringing your mom as your +1 never goes out of style.

Besties Kajol and designer Manish Malhotra are all smiles.

Madhuri Dixit, seen with husband Shriram Nene, never fails to embody feminine elegance.

Speaking of 90s Bollywood darling heroines who almost fell off the face of the earth after marriage (wait…did I just say that?), Juhi Chawla looks as sweet and bubbly as ever with husband Jay Mehta.

The party didn’t just end with that killer guest list. There’s even more that went down once inside.

Check out #Sonanand’s purple wedding cake.

We’re super thrilled we got to catch Sonam and Anand exchange bites of their wedding cake and then share with their in-laws!

Sonam teases her dad, Anil, for taking the tiniest piece of cake… Come on, his wedding diet has to be over by now!

There was much more in dessert offerings besides the cake, and Arjun Kapoor was there to show the camera the full spread.

And then it was time to get this party really started with some epics dance performances.

Everyone loves a fun group dance…

…But nothing gives us more joy than seeing Karan Johar break it down.

We’re not sure there is something holier (or more meta) than Johar dancing to songs from his own hit films, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.”

Wedding Rule: Your dad is only allowed to perform a choreographed dance at your wedding if his name is Anil Kapoor.

And your cousin is only allowed to crash said dance if his name is Arjun Kapoor.

There’s nothing bro-vers (aka bro-lovers) Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh love more than a good dance party. This clip may need to come with an epilepsy warning.

After a certain point in the night, things start to get a little sloppy.

Exhibit A: Many figurative and literal loosened buttons lead to Salman Khan, SRK, Anil Kapoor, and oh, uh, Mika Singh (?!) jamming on stage together.

Exhibit B: We’re fortunate enough to have this videographic evidence of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Karishma Kapoor demonstrate the challenges of trying to get a group photo with your girls on a night out when you all drunk.

Celebrities: They’re just like us! #BeenThereDoneThat

SRK and Sallu proceed to serenade mother of the bride, Sunita Kapoor. Really, we’ve included this here so you can peep an amused Sonam and Anand in the back right corner.

Sonam, who appears to have changed into a long white kaftan to get comfortable for the night (Respect), then gets serenaded by SRK, Salman Khan, Mika Singh, Ranveer Singh, and Varun Dhawan with “Mujhse Shaadi Karoge.”

WHAT A NIGHT, FOLKS. GOOD LUCK DEALING WITH THESE BOLLYWOOD CRAZIES, ANAND… JK, Sonam will protect you and hold onto you tight like she is below.

Thus, concludes our extensive coverage of #SonaamKiShaadi. We laughed, we cried, but mostly we “awwww”ed and died a little on the inside. Thanks for sticking around with us for this crazy ride.

Our Instagram feeds will always pale in comparison to what we saw these past three days, but to battle the withdrawal just keep rereading our coverage. And of course, CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN TO SONAM AND ANAND. We cannot wait to see what the two of you have in store.
