As the years continue to go by, Sanjay Leela Bhansali always manages to bring out a box top hit movie. He manages to captivate the audience through his popular films such as “Bajirao Mastani,” “Ram-Leela,” “Devdas,” “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,” and many more to date.

Personally speaking, these movies can be seen to have a bit of Shakespearean/modern romance taking a peak in the movies. So let’s begin this Sanjay Leela Bhansali love fest by celebrating the movies that made us fall in love.

Known to be portrayed as the modern day “Romeo and Juliet” of Indian Contrary, “Ram Leela” features Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh as star crossed lovers battling against their clans for love. Love takes a twist as Ram who is played by Ranveer Singh and Leela played by Padukone are betrayed after eloping and running away. Despite their love for each other, the two are forced to move on in their lives until fate brings them back together, Although Bhansali portrays the film in modern, yet classical indian style, the songs are a top hit. Whether you’re dancing your heart out at garba, or jamming inside your car, the song “Nagada Sang Dhol” is sure to make you bring out your inner desi by far.

“Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” was also another Bollywood hit movie by SLB featuring the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai, Ajay Devgan, and Salman Khan. Thus again bringing in another love triangle story into Bollywood entertainment, SLB’s theme can be taken into consideration as a note for all us Bollywood day-dreaming heart throbs. This classical love story can teach everyone a lesson when it comes to love, especially when we are too busy trying attract attention and affection from someone giving us an infatuation vs someone who truly cares about us. Although Salman and Aishwarya’s love story can be portrayed in post-modern life, the true reality is that we should all look for a love the way Ajay took care of Aishwarya in the worst time.

3. Caste Does Not Mean Anything When It Comes To Love

All’s fair in love and war right?  “Devdas” is the classical Bollywood movie produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself, being an adaptation of the novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The story takes place around Devdas (SRK) and Paro (Aishwarya), childhood friends with many memories. While Devdas is sent to England, Paro lit a diya, promising to never let the flame die down as long as he is alive. Post Devdas’ return, friendship blossoms into love and the two are set to marry. Fate then takes a twist in which due to Paro’s family lineage of folklore dancing and low status in the caste, the marriage is not permitted. Paro is then married off to become a “mother” to her husband’s kids from his former wife, while Devdas takes stay in a brothel where he meets Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit). As the latter both decide to move on in life, fate yet again takes another twist and Devdas dies before Paro, just as he had promised.

As one may notices, Sanjay Leela Bhansali never fails to produce a top quality romance without a moral to be learn or a story to be told.

Here’s to another year of falling in love without our favorite stars, crying over jodis that were pre-destined to be, and most importantly, to a storyline that will always call our name. Happy Birthday Sanjay Leela Bhansali!
