Life’s a Series of Bloopers

Sean O’ Casey says ”All the world’s a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.” I like that. In fact, I love it.

To me, it means that there is no real right or wrong answer in life. Life is a series of decisions; decisions we think are right at that exact moment. Decisions that usually are wrong in the grand scheme of things. That’s okay though. Life’s not really a play. There is no director telling you to move ‘a little to the left’.  No make up artist to make sure you look glamorous at every moment. No stunt double to take your blows for you. No ‘take 2 to take 38937? to get the line right and the scene perfect. No prince charming, all chiseled and magnificent, to come to your rescue and whisk you away to your castle and happy ending on his white horse.

Life is about moments we blunder, trip, and stumble through to get to where we think we want to be. Some of us are so obsessed with the end result, we completely forget to step back and truly understand these so called ‘blunders and mistakes’. Something that could seem like a mistake right now, could end up being your biggest regret in the future. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has moments they wish to fast forward or erase entirely; it is those events though, that help us figure out what we want. So in a way, those ‘mistakes’ could really be the best thing to ever happen to you. How then is one thing right, and another wrong?

The world is indeed a stage, as Shakespeare so eloquently put it, but life is not a play; it’s a series of bloopers.

A series of wonderfully hilarious and ironic bloopers that remind us time and time again to not take life too seriously…because really, who gets out alive anyways?
